‘Walk a Mile in Another Man’s Shoes’ – The New Respects

The New Respects, an homage to throwback rock n’ roll, with high energy seem to have a message from the heart they intend on taking as far as the world as possible.  Their music is  threaded with acceptance, love and a wider perspective.  “Shoes” (Album: Here Comes Trouble) is no exception.

It’s easy to take arms with suspicion when we don’t know one another – fearful of what we don’t understand.  How different would the world be… how different would our own world be… if we took a minute and “walk a mile in another man’s shoes”?  Perhaps our heart would become a little larger… maybe our world, too. We may be missing the treasure hidden in the soul next to us.  What tragedy it would be if the solution we seek was stored in the one we choose not to know?

These lyrics are straightforward but offer a much needed perspective and reminder. Take a look!
And, take a listen to their song below. It’s a great mixture of worlds – something you can jam to and be inspired by. Why not have both?

Help! I think my point of view
Could use a little help
I ain’t got nothin’ to prove
I need a little less self
And a little more you
Oooh, la la la la la
It’s time we make the move
To give away a heart
Like we got nothing to lose
So if you hold my hand
Then I’ll hold yours too

You learn to love when you
Walk a mile in another man’s shoes
Learn to love
Walk a mile in another man’s shoes
Hate is hard when you
Walk a mile in another man’s shoes
Walk a mile in a, walk a mile in a…

Love! Well, it’s easy to do
When you’re in love
And you got nothin’ to lose
But if the fever should break
Well, tell me what would you do, oh

You learn to love when you
Walk a mile in another man’s shoes
Learn to love
Walk a mile in another man’s shoes
Hate is hard when you
Walk a mile in another man’s shoes
Walk a mile in a, walk a mile in a…
